Welcome to Stocks For Dummies where we look at the stock market and try to break it down into understandable segments. The world of stocks can make anyone feel like a dummy no matter how smart or dumb you are. There is so much to learn and so many new words and concepts being thrown around that it can be a bit much for any beginner.

The biggest dilemma for anyone starting out and wanting to start buying stocks is where to go for good information that will help them understand the process. There are many radio shows as well as television shows that have a host of ”experts” but can you really trust them. It seems every stock guru has his (or her) own list of great stocks to buy right now.

If you listen to the experts, you will rarely ever hear them say bad things about a stock. They all have stocks they want to recommend to you but you never know what their motivation is. Why are they telling you all these good things and do they have anything to gain? Listening to these stock pickers will give anyone the feeling that the market is full of great money making stock choices and no matter what you pick will sooner or later be a winner.

In order to do well investing in stocks and get the best stock market results, you need to learn how to interpret what these market mavens are saying and figure out which picks are really full of fluff. Anyone who has been around stocks for the last 2 to 3 years knows that there are times when no stock pick is any good because almost everything is going down. Losing money is a very real possibility when you invest in company stock and you should know and understand those risks.

You can also find an almost unlimited amount of information online and that is a good place to pick up some of the stock market basics you will need to move forward and become successful. There are many online sites that are free and many you can join for a monthly fee. It will be up to you to decide whether joining a paid service is really worth the money or whether you can get your information from free sources.

Ultimately, your success will be determined by how much you learn and how disciplined you are in your investing. You must have a strategy and a goal to be a successful stock investor and you should always know where you are going. If you don’t have a solid plan, you really will feel like you are investing in stocks for dummies with little chance of making money.
